Dr Slaughter has been serving the north side of Brisbane for over ten years. Her special interests include cataract surgery, macular degeneration and medical retinal diseases, pterygium surgery, glaucoma and general ophthalmology.

Dr Slaughter graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1997 and undertook her residency training throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory. In 2006 Dr Slaughter completed her advanced training in Ophthalmology in Queensland.  Following this, she completed fellowship in cataract and anterior segment surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and had further experience working as a Senior Fellow in Exeter, United Kingdom.

Dr Slaughter is a member of the Royal Australian and  New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and The Australasian Society of Cataract and Refraction Surgeons (AUSCRS). She regularly attends national and international conferences to keep up to date with the latest advances in ophthalmology. Dr Slaughter also gives regular clinical updates to Optometrists and  General  Practitioners.

Dr Slaughter worked as a visiting medical officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital from 2009 to 2016. She has been actively involved in the teaching of registrars and medical students. She was integral to the training of a generation of registrars as the Director of Training for RANZCO Queensland, from 2010 to 2016. She was awarded the prestigious Trainer of Excellence award from RANZCO in 2010.
