Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty

Treatment for chronic glaucoma.

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (or ‘SLT Laser’) is a variant of the YAG laser. This laser can be used in the treatment of glaucoma. In contrast to Argon Laser Trabeculoplasty (ALT), this treatment can be repeated and can be useful in reducing the need for glaucoma drops.

The procedure takes place in the rooms at Northpoint Eye Care. Your eye is anaesthetised with drops and the procedure doesn’t hurt. It is well-tolerated by most people with minimal side effects and risks. You will need a support person to drive you home from the procedure. Follow-up will be arranged with your ophthalmologist.
