Pigment dispersion syndrome

Pigment dispersion syndrome occurs when the iris rubs on the fibres holding up the crystalline lens. The pigment that is shed can block the trabecular meshwork and impair drainage of aqueous fluid out the eye. This can lead to an increase in the intraocular pressure which intern can damage the optic nerve. This leads to the loss of peripheral vision, a condition called pigment dispersions glaucoma.
